The global death toll for the Ebola outbreak is now 6,841, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday, December 15.
The WHO also stated that 18,464 cases of the disease had been confirmed in new statistics updated till Saturday, December 13.
Sierra Leone is currently suffering the worst of the outbreak and has lost 10 doctors to the disease.
The
country has overtaken Liberia as the nation with the most Ebola cases
after a previously unknown hotspot was discovered in the diamond-rich
district of Kono.
Sierra Leone has also cancelled all Christmas and New Year celebrations in a bid to stop the spread of Ebola.
