John 17:6-21
SANCTIFIED IN THE TRUTH
“Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17, NIV
One thing that should be easily noticeable in the life of a regenerated person is a lifestyle of truth. These days, truth is becoming scarce as lying has become the fabric of the world we live in. In fact, one who tells the truth, by the world standard, is an endangered species as there are always not many around. It is heart-touching that Jesus had to pray that God would sanctify the redeemed ones with the truth of His word. This will help them receive help to know the truth and not be held in bondage by lies (John 8:32); and that they will live and teach people what the truth is.
Though telling lies often seem very convenient and can save people’s face when the chips are down, it can be very expensive when discovered. It is a thief that can rob its victims of trust and deprive them of noble opportunities. Besides, the Bible says in John 8:44 that the devil is a liar and anyone who tells lies belongs to the devil. So, as a child of God, you must make every effort to live a life of truth. Truth should be the garment and the fragrance that you wear henceforth; otherwise, God is not your Father. Say the truth and put the devil to shame.
