A 57-year-old man has been arrested for raping the aged mother of his landlord in Benin.
Anselm Osagie,
was arrested on Saturday, January 3 after it was alleged that he had
canal knowledge of the 95-year-old mother of his landlord.
Anselm was paraded by the Edo State Police Command among other sex offenders arrested within the state.
He
however denied having sex with the nonagenarian; he claimed that
neighbours just raised alarm and accused him after they saw the woman
lying on his bed.
Anselm said the old woman has been a frequent visitor to his room since October.
Edo State Police Commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo, revealed that the suspects would soon be charged to court.
Just last month, a similar case happened in Ekiti State capital, Ado-Ekiti where a 25-year-old man, Familola Ayodeji was arrested by the operatives of the Department of Criminal Investigation, for allegedly raping an 85-year-old woman.
